Below are the current Board of Directors for the Cy Fritz Foundation.  They are also part of the group that founded the Foundation.



Tom Ecker is a Millersville University graduate with B.S. and M.Ed. degrees.  His career includes a significant period serving as a Human Resources Manager with a Fortune 500 company.  Currently, he is working as a Career Counselor.

Tom has been actively involved with Millersville Athletics since 1976.  He was the Founder and Director of the Millersville Metrics, has served as the Director of the Millersville Turkey Trot for over 20 years, and has helped co-ordinate the Summer Track & Field series over the last 30 years.


Bob Vasile is a 1983 graduate of Millersville University.  He ran cross country for four years for MU, from 1979-1982.  This includes 1981, the year the team won the NCAA DII National Championship.  Bob will continue to FIGHT for the men's cross country and track & field programs at MU until they are reinstated.

Bob founded, and currently runs Deliberate Success, a personal development and leadership program.  He conducts this program for the athletes on the MU cross country and track and field teams as well as for high school students.  He is also the Executive Director of TEDxLancaster.  Bob owns two retail stores in the Harrisburg area.  His wife Deb ('85) ran cross country and track for MU and was on MU's first women's cross country team.


Andrea (DeBerardinis) Kramer graduated from Millersville University in 1991 with a B.S. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education (Cum Laude).  She ran four years of cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track.  In track, she ran the 3K, 5K, and 10K.  She was a member of the 1989 Women’s cross country team, the first team to qualify and participate at the NCAA Division II National Cross Country Championships.  The team finished 7th.  Andrea was an individual qualifier for 1990 NCAA Division II National Cross Country Championships, where she finished 44th.  She was a member of the 1990 track team, which won the PSAC championship and was the first women’s team to accomplish that feat.  They repeated as PSAC champions in 1991.  In the 1991 season, Andrea was the 10,000 meter PSAC champion.

Andrea is an Academic Support Teacher at Central Manor Elementary School in the Penn Manor School District.  She is also Penn Manor’s Assistant Varsity Cross Country Coach and Head Junior High Track and Field Coach.  Andrea is married to Doug (MU '91) and has four children: Doug, David, Becky, and Bethany.


Eugene "Cy" Fritz gave a lifetime of service to Millersville University and was one of the most successful coaches in their history.  His record as head cross country coach from 1969-1985 was 126-16. His teams won PSAC and Regional titles and 2 IC4A titles. In 1981, he guided his team to MU’s 1st NCAA DII National Championship and was named National Coach of the Year.  Cy was head track & field coach from 1970-1974. He had a 41-3 record, including a PSAC title.  He was assistant coach from 1975-1982.

From 1968 until his retirement in 1997, Fritz was on the Dept. of Health and Physical Education faculty and was MU's Director of Intramurals and Recreation.  In 1985, he was named Associate Director of Men's Athletics.  The Cy Fritz Track & Field Open and the Cy Fritz Foundation have been named in his honor.  He was inducted into the MU Athletics and PA Sports Halls of Fame.  While he coached athletes, what he really did was develop people.  Many of his athletes have said they are the person they are now as a result of Cy Fritz and his programs.


Connor Veres is a 2013 graduate of Millersville University with a B.A. in Geography with a focus in Environmental Studies and a minor in environmental policy and regulation. He currently works at AECOM in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area, as an Environmental Scientist specializing in Geographic Information System.

He ran cross country and track and field for three years at Millersville University, from 2009-2012. Connor was unable to use all of his collegiate eligibility, because of the University’s decision to eliminate the Men’s Cross Country and Track and Field programs. He decided to remain at Millersville for his senior year to focus on academics and train for the 2012 Philadelphia Marathon which he finished in 2:33 to take 41st place overall. He also founded and served as president of the Millersville University Running Club and served as a student assistant for the Women’s Cross Country and Track and Field teams. He also finished the 2014 Boston Marathon.

Alumni Engagement Council Leaders

The Alumni Engagement Council (AEC) is responsible for staying in touch with alumni, coaches, and supporters of the programs.  They will keep everyone up-to-date about the activities of the Cy Fritz Foundation (CFF) and will encourage donations to the CFF to help further the Foundation's mission.

Tom Barron is a former runner for MU and is currently an Environmental Group Manager at the PA Dept of Environmental Protection.  Tom is an avid cyclist and plays a large role in bicycle advocacy in Lancaster.


Scott Wagner brings a varied business background to the Cy Fritz Foundation Board. His experience includes sales, business ownership, nonprofit fundraising, public relations, digital marketing and freelance writing. Scott currently works as a Sr. Client Consultant for ConnectCare3 in Lancaster, PA. Scott graduated from Millersville University in 1985 and was a member of the 1981 National Championship Cross Country Squad. Scott is passionate about working for the reinstatement of the Millersville Men’s Cross Country and Track & Field programs. He looks forward to the day when a new generation of athletes will benefit from the opportunities he enjoyed. Scott lives in Lancaster with his wife Nancy and seven year old Labrador Retriever Cheyenne. Scott no longer competes but fuels his passion for endurance sports with a regimen of cycling and swimming.


Brian Worrell graduated from Millersville in 1976 with a B.S. degree in education.  Brian ran cross country, indoor tack, and outdoor track as an unrecruited walk on.  To this day, he values the opportunity and experience.  He has volunteered almost every year over the past 30 years at the Millersville Metrics track & field meet.  Since 1979, Brian has been a financial professional with Prudential, guiding his clients' decisions to grow and protect their wealth.


The Student-at-Large position gets one vote on the Board of Directors.  This position represents the Millersville University students that benefit from the Cy Fritz Foundation.  This includes the cross country and track & field athletes as well as those involved in the MU Running Club.  Below are the current students representing this position.
